From the moment we first met Panagiotis, we immediately sensed his excitement and love for the police. So, when we asked him what his wish would be, he didn’t hesitate for a second: to become a police officer! He imagined himself wearing a uniform full of medals, leading a team of officers, and creating strategic plans to capture criminals.
The fairies contacted the Hellenic Police Officers’ Academy and the responsible officer in charge to organize a unique experience. The big day arrived, and Panagiotis, proudly dressed in his uniform, arrived at the Academy. He was taken directly to the Commander’s office, where he was welcomed with honors, with the Commander also wearing his uniform.
In one corner of the office, there was equipment: a helmet, a shield, and a bulletproof vest. With shining eyes, Panagiotis put everything on and started asking detailed questions about their use. He wanted to know everything about the role of a real police officer.
Next, he was taken to a room where they showed him a specially prepared video about the work of the Police and its various departments. As soon as the screening ended, the moment he was eagerly waiting for had arrived: he formed his own team! He took on the role of leader and gave orders to the crews of three patrol cars. Under his command, his team successfully carried out two chases and arrests of suspects, conducted patrols, identity checks, and even a rescue mission inside a dark building using only flashlights. He also practiced directing traffic on the streets! Each time the Academy officer asked him what else he wanted to do, he confidently answered, “Whatever I saw in the video!”
When his training was completed, he returned to the Commander’s office, where he was awarded a certificate of successful training along with honorary gifts. His joy and emotion were evident.
Before he left, the Commander asked him to come back to the Academy in eight years, after studying hard, ready to become a real police officer. “We will be waiting for you here,” he said, and Panagiotis smiled with confidence.
A little while later, Panagiotis was an official guest at the organization’s major annual event, the Evening of Thanks. He entered the stage in a battery-powered police car, as the audience applauded. Proudly, he shared the story of his wish, and at the end, he was awarded a medal by the Chief of the Hellenic Police himself! Earlier that same day, he had visited the Minister for Citizen Protection at his office, where the Minister personally presented him with an honorary plaque for his services!
It was an experience he will never forget. Panagiotis lived his dream, and now, full of strength and optimism, he has a new goal: to work hard so that one day he can wear the uniform again — this time, as a real police officer!
